The Zeiss Elyra 7 with Lattice structured illumination microscopy (SIM) is a camera-based super-resolution system able to generate three-dimensional images at incredibly high frame rates. The system consists of an inverted microscope suitable for live cell imaging as well as fixed samples.

The new Lattice SIM technology of Elyra 7 combines very gentle imaging and superfast optical sectioning of 3D samples. Instead of grid lines, the system applies a novel spot illumination pattern which optimises the light efficiency and for fast and sensitive super-resolution imaging of live and fixed specimen. The new technique can be applied to uncover new mechanistic details, to quantify finest subcellular structures in large field of views and to study fast dynamic cellular processes.
