Overview

I am currently using Cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM) to investigate the structure of type IV pili and the corresponding machinery in the membrane of bacterial cells.

My background is in biochemistry and cryo-EM, where I have worked on a number of different projects including:

  • Structural studies of pore forming toxins using cryo-EM
  • Development of improved specimen preparation for electron cryo-microscopy
  • Investigation of protein import into peroxisomes and interactions between peroxisomes and microtubules
