Profile

Research interests: 

  • Pharmaceutical R&D applications of the zebrafish model. Current research activity focussed on drug-induced seizures and epilepsy; drug-induced kidney injury; and pancreatic beta cell regeneration. 
  • The effects of pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment, particularly: sublethal markers of toxicity in fish; the use of preclincial data in ecotoxicology; and novel experimental approaches for environmental risk assessment.

2015: Post graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy)

1996–1999: Ph.D., Environmental Physiology (endocrinology). The University of Manchester
