Jack Common
PhD student

Profile

I am interested in how hosts and their pathogens change with respect to each other over evolutionary time (host-pathogen coevolution). My PhD project in the Westra lab is exploring how to use bacterial immune systems to test coevolutionary hypotheses and to develop a more sophisticated understanding of how different real-world variables influence disease spread and evolution.

Broad research specialisms:

Host-pathogen coevolution, CRISPR, microbiology, evolutionary ecology, disease

Qualifications

2016 BA (Hons) Biological Sciences, University of Oxford
