Profile

The aim of my research is to characterize the molecular and biochemical basis of the differences in the susceptibility of the solitary bee Osmia bicornis to select insecticides. This involves topical and oral bioassays to assess the sensitivity of O. bicornis to different insecticides and the identification and characterization of the specific gene(s) involved in the detoxification of these insecticides.

Addressing these questions will facilitate the future rational design of novel bee-safe compounds by allowing the development of molecular tools to classify, optimise and improve early candidate selection of insecticides.
