Profile

I am a Portuguese biologist from Lisboa. I have 9 years of experience on marine biodiversity research - as field assistant, researcher, volunteer coordinator, environmental educator and instructor, particularly at sea turtle conservation/research projects. I have worked both on nesting and in-water biology of sea turtles, with different species: hawksbills, green turtles and leatherbacks; at Puerto Rico, Bermuda and Guinea Bissau. I have also collaborated in research projects on population genetics (sea turtles, and the invasive lionfish), quorum-sensing in bacteria from amber, and impacts of road vehicles on sandy beach macrofauna. From 2003 to 2008 I worked as an Educator at the Lisbon Zoo, Portugal. From 2008 to 2010 I worked as teacher assistant at the University of Puerto Rico in General Biology.
