Sarah Hamm
PhD student

Profile

The aim of my research is to characterise the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance of beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua, to select insecticides and develop tools and strategies to combat resistance. This involves insecticide bioassays to assess the sensitivity to different insecticides, creation of a de novo transcriptome for S. exigua and identification and functional expression of detox. genes associated with resistance.

This knowledge will facilitate practical tools and solutions that can be used to prevent, slow, or overcome resistance.
