Sophie Gould
PhD Student

Profile

In the summer of 2016, between the 2nd and 3rd year of BSc Zoology degree, I conducted a summer studentship here at the University of Exeter. The aim was to determine if a population of zebrafish carried resistance to the pesticide Pictroxoxin, and if so, begin preliminary molecular analysis to see if this mutation was caused by a mutation on a GABA receptor, as is exhibited in invertebrates. Having loved this project, this led me to pursue a PhD in this area of research.

Broad research specialisms

The effects of environmental contaminants on aquatic species.
