Overview

I am a Graduate Research Assistant and part of a UK NERC funded collaboration to investigate the utility of eDNA in environmental monitoring within the Western English Channel. I am focused on the development and optimisation of long-read sequencing for high-fidelity viral metagenomics using the MinION platform and bioinformatics pipelines to study viral ecology.

I am also a masters student completing my Masters by Research in bioinformatics at the University of Exeter, involved in the construction of bioinformatics pipelines, DNA extract and sequencing. My bioinformatic expertise is in metagenomics and single-cell amplified genomes including assembly, genome annotation, data presentation and statistics.

As a bioinformatician I am interested in investigating the ecology and host-virus interactions in marine microbial communities.
