I am a multi-disciplinary Postdoctoral Researcher, based in The Bioeconomy Centre.
I work as part of the Exeter Microbial Biofuels Group (EMBG) and my research interests include the application of Imaging Flow Cytometry to microbiology, and for the novel detection of environmental proxies such as pollution particles, microplastics and pollen in sediments, ice and even fatbergs.
My research has mainly been focused on exploring human-environment relationships. This has involved reconstructing air pollution histories that span the Industrial Revolution to present day using urban pond sediments in the UK and China, to understand how air pollution has changed over time, and mapping pollution deposition using contemporary dusts.
