Overview

I am a NERC GW4+ DTP funded PhD student investigating the effects of wind on seabird flight and distribution: Implications for assessing impact of offshore wind farms.

The first part of my research will involve using GPS tracking data to investigate how wind influences the movements and behaviour (e.g. foraging behaviour) of different seabird species. The second part involves applying this information to assess the potential collision and displacement risks associated with offshore wind farms.

I am supervised by Steve Votier (Exeter University), Matthew Witt (Exeter University), Rob Thomas (Cardiff University) and CASE partner Bob Furness of MacArthur Green.

Qualifications

  • 2013 – 2014 MSc Environmental Biology (Swansea University)
  • 2010 – 2013 BSc Zoology (Swansea University)
