Overview
In my current role as Unit manager for Biosciences Teaching, I manager the two teaching labs, the main lab accommodates up to 200 students and the second 60 students. The role covers health & safety for the area and manageing a team of technicians who support the facility. As a team we provide all the material and resources for practical classes.
Part of the role is to advise staff and students in the teaching area on disposal of materials, COSHH and Risk assessments.
I have been with the university since September 1979, when I joined as a trainee technician, where I have learnt many skills over the years. My main field is microbiolgy. In 2017 I join the Institute of Science & Technology (iST) and registerd as a Chartered Scientist (CSci) with the skills I had built up over my working career.
