Dr Ann Babtie
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Biosciences
Ann is a postdoctoral researcher in the Complex Disease Epigenomics group working with Prof Jon Mill and Prof Inês Barroso. Her research involves computational analysis of single cell transcriptomic and epigenomic data to explore how regulation of gene expression varies across brain regions and cell types.
She received a PhD in biochemistry from Cambridge University (2006-10) where she studied enzyme mechanisms and evolution, followed by postdoctoral research in metabolic engineering at MIT (2011-12). She then switched to computational research and worked in the Theoretical Systems Biology group at Imperial College London (2013-2021) developing and applying statistical methods to study the structure and regulation of biological networks. She joined the University of Exeter in 2022 as a Lecturer in Postgraduate Education, teaching on the MSc in Genomic Medicine course.
