About me:
I am post-doctoral research fellow on the Convex Seascape Survey (https://convexseascapesurvey.com/); a mltidsciplinary project seeking to discover exactly how the ocean performs its vital role as the world's largest carbon sink. Over five years, the project will not only scrutinise the carbon locked in the continental shelf seabeds but will assess the role of ocean life on carbon storage, as well as assessing human influences on seabed carbon. Funded by Convex Group Ltd., the project is facilitated by Blue Marine Foundation, with science led by the University of Exeter in collaboration with partners.
More broadly I am an ecologist interested and concerned with anthropogenic disturbances to the marine environment at a population or system scale. I have over 10 years’ experience in planning and executing field sampling campaigns to collect environmental data answering key questions pertaining to our impact on the marine environment. I enjoy the analysis of big datasets and have an interest in using GIS and digital media in data collection, analysis and presentation. I have also developed extensive laboratory protocols for the processing of environmental samples looking at microplastic contamination in aquatic systems and organisms and in using biological traits to try and understand how benthic invertebrates particularly are effected by and transform their environments.
Outside of research I am a keen diver, and sailor, photographer and drummer and enjoying life in Devon walking on Dartmoor and surfing on the North coast.
