About me:

Background:

I am a biologist with experience in topics related to molecular biology that allow me to study a Ph.D. in the UK. All my professional career offered me the opportunity of learning several molecular techniques. Also, my experience that I gained has taught me all the dedication that should be used in a research project.

Interests: Watch sports (Futbol, American futbol, baseball and so on) and movies.

General interest:

Learning new skills (molecular techniques) and applying that knowledge to continue my training and development as a researcher. All of this will help me to gain experience to lead independently my own line of investigation and become a group leader in a laboratory in the future.

Role: Postdoctoral Research Fellow working for Professor Nick Smirnoff

Broad Research specialism: Design and analyse circadian experiments.

Interests:

Working with circadian rhythm topics gave me lots of interesting ideas to research in the future. How everything is connected to circadian regulation is a main field to work in the future. Meanwhile, working in different research topics will open different doors where I can expand that knowledge like research with ascorbate. Understanding how ascorbate pathway works and its key elements challenges me to keep expanding my skills and knowledge that would let me combine it with circadian experience and design new types of research in the future.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of phylogeny, analysis of RNA-seq, tissue culture (Argemone mexicana, Marchantia polymorpha), molecular cloning and sequencing to produce CRISPR-Cas9, transformation with Agrobacterium rhizogenes, GUS staining technique and design of time course experiments (Circadian rhythm) employing RT-qPCR, PAM fluorescence and Delayed fluorescence.

Career:

Biological Sciences PhD at University of Bristol/John Innes Centre (JIC)

MSc. Biological Sciences at Yucatan Scientific Research Center (CICY)

Biology (Bachelor degree) at Campus of Biological Sciences, Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY)
