About me:
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Ballou Lab. My work primarily focuses on understanding how human fungal pathogens interact with the host and how that interaction influences morphology and pathogenicity.
Interests:
Currently, I am studying the opportunistic human pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans, specifically in the novel virulence mechanism named titanization. In this process, enlarged cells are produced as result of the interaction of the fungus with human factors.
Qualifications:
BSc in Bacteriology and Clinical Laboratory, University Colegio Mayor de Antioquia, Colombia, 2008
MSc in Biology, University of Antioquia, Colombia, 2013
PhD in Biology, University of Antioquia, Colombia, 2017
