Postgraduate Researcher
Biosciences
PhD student in Biosciences and the Centre for Resililience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW).
My PhD is focussed on applying environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques for monitoring the ecological impacts of river pollution. Based in CREWW, I am a member of the CSO project, focused on charachterising combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and surface water outfalls (SWOs) and understanding how they affect the environment. My role within the project involves understanding the microbial composotition of such discharges and their impacts on bacterial communities within receiving rivers. Additionally, my PhD will involve method development towards improving eDNA tools, specifically in the context of river monitoring.
I hold an MSc(R) from the University of Bristol focussed on the applying molecular and traditional tools to understand the evolutionary ecology of river fish. I also have a passion for wildlife conservation and have been involved with a great deal of community volunteering and ecological monitoring projects.
