I am a marine ecologist and acoustician researching coral reef resilience and soundscape ecology.  I am dedicated to producing rigorous, innovative research that informs and advances reef restoration and conservation strategies.

During my MSci degree at the University of Southampton (UK) I completed research internships in both coral reef ecology and bioacoustics at the Sandin Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (USA) and the Juanes Lab at UVIC (Canada) respectively. Following my degree, I interned in the Burt Marine Biology Lab at NYUAD (UAE), acting as a Scientific Diver and supporting development of the Arabian Gulf Coral Reef Monitoring Programme.

My PhD combines my interests in coral reef ecology and acoustics, focusing on the behavioural and acoustic ecology of snapping shrimp, tiny crustaceans whose pervasive crackle dominates tropical coral reef soundscapes. My work combines extended international fieldwork, large-scale acoustic data analyses, and interdisciplinary collaboration with leading scientists and organisations.

Broad Research Interests:

  • Behavioural ecology
  • Bioacoustics
  • Conservation Biology
  • Coral reef ecology
