Dr Jianyi Mai

Jianyi studied Biopharmaceutics and obtained her bachelor’s degree at Wuhan University, China. She then conducted research on Coxsackievirus for her master’s degree in Wuhan, before coming to the University of St Andrews for her PhD. During her PhD, under the supervision of Dr Marcus Bischoff, Jianyi investigated cytoskeleton dynamics and cell-matrix interactions in cell migration during Drosophila abdominal morphogenesis. In September 2024, Jianyi joined Harmansa’s Group at the Living System Institute as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Continuing her interest in cell-matrix interactions, she will focus on basal extracellular matrices and investigate their role in shaping tissues.
