Larissa John is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology at the University of Exeter. Her research focuses on developing innovative assays and in vivo methodologies to support the discovery of new antifungal drugs targeting Candida auris.
Larissa completed her PhD investigating antifungal combination therapies against drug-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus and C. auris at the University of Exeter. Her doctoral work centred on characterising these combinations in terms of their mechanisms of antifungal activity, in vivo efficacy and potential resistance liabilities.
Larissa's research interests lie in understanding the mechanisms underlying antifungal resistance and exploring how these can be circumvented through the development of new antifungal drugs and treatment strategies.
