Neil Gow is a Professor of Microbiology and, until 2023, was the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Impact at the University of Exeter. His research focuses on life-threatening fungal diseases, addressing critical challenges such as diagnosis difficulties, the lack of vaccines, and limited treatment options. His research group works on the fungal cell wall, a unique target for immune recognition and antifungal drug design and drug resistance problems, and he is pioneering new approaches to combat fungal infections.
He welcomes inquiries from prospective PhD students interested in medical mycology and microbiology.
