About me:
I am a BBSRC Discovery Fellow hosted in the lab of Prof. Michael Schrader, investigating how peroxisome-mitochondria interactions control healthy neuronal cell function. As well as organelle interplay via membrane contact sites, I also am interested in peroxisome and mitochondria dynamics, and use a variety of molecular, biochemical, imaging and biophysical techniques to study these processes in health and disease.
Interests:
- Peroxisomes
- Mitochondria
- Membrane contact sites
- Organelle dynamics
- Molecular neuroscience and neurodegeneration
- Intracellular trafficking
- Post-translational modifications
- Membrane proteins
- Signalling pathways
Career:
2024-2027 BBSRC Discovery Fellow, University of Exeter
2018-2024 Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Exeter
2017-2018 Research Associate in Biochemistry, University of Bristol
2016-2017 Research Associate in Cell Biology, University of the West of England
2012-2016 PhD in Molecular Neuroscience, University of Bristol
2008-2012 MSci in Biochemistry, University of Cambridge
Postgraduate Research opportunities: I am open to email enquires from students with their own funding interested in pursuing an MSc by Research (MByRes) in organelle biology or molecular neuroscience research.
