Dr Rashid Minhas
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Biosciences
About me:
Dr Rashid Minhas joined Kudoh Group in March 2023. He is a post-doc interested in establishment of the thermotolerant Arabian killifish (Aphanius dispar) as a model for fungal infection studies (host-pathogen interactions). Before moving to the University of Exeter he was part of Wardle Group at King’s College London where he exploited the 4C-Seq technique and in vivo zebrafish transgenic assays to identify cis-acting regulatory elements that act during early endoderm development. Before moving to KCL he secured a Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellowship and worked at International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, Poland. His project was focusing on transcriptional dynamics in the conduction system of the zebrafish heart. Rashid did his Ph.D. in Pakistan where he pioneered setting up the first ever zebrafish research facility at Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad. He worked on elucidating the cis-acting regulatory elements of GLI transcription factors, key components of the Hedgehog signalling pathway. During his PhD research, he also worked with the Elgar group at the National Institute for Medical Research, London, resulting in several good impact research articles.
