About me:
Dr Seána Duggan is an independent Early Career Fellow at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology. Her research investigates fungal - bacterial co-infections.
Interests:
Co-infections caused by Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus result in worse disease compared to mono-infections due to the synergistic interaction between C. albicans and S. aureus. Seána’s fellowship aims to define drivers of this synergy with a view to mitigation. She interrogates fungal-bacterial-human cell cultures with omics coupled with phenotypic and infection assays.
Qualifications:
Dr. rer. nat. Microbiology Hans-Knöll Institute for Infection Biology and Natural Product Research and Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany
MSc (Res), TU Dublin, Ireland
BSc (Hons) Bioanalytical Science, TU Dublin, Ireland
