I am a neuroscientist with a strong interest in neuroimaging methods, particularly fMRI and fNIRS, within the context of translational pain research. My work has focused on identifying novel pain biomarkers, elucidating the mechanisms underlying non-pharmacological pain treatments (including mindfulness, CBT, and social prescribing), and predicting individual treatment responses.

More recently, my translational research has centred on the use of virtual reality to predict chronic pain impact, guided by fear-avoidance models of chronic pain.

Alongside my research, I am deeply committed to education within the university, where I teach physiology across a broad range of topics and pain neuroscience.
