Project Title: Sperm pHertility; are faster marine invertebrate sperm more susceptible to ocean acidification?

Supervisors: Dr Ceri Lewis, Prof. Tamara Galloway, Prof. David Hosken

Funding Body: NERC

Project Description: Projected changes to seawater chemistry are fundamentally altering the fertilisation environments in which freely spawned sperm operate. My research examines both direct and indirect effects of ocean acidification upon a range of sperm performance parameters in order to gain a more complete understanding of sperm functioning in future acidified oceans and linking this to what is known of the ecology of marine invertebrate sperm performance.
