Overview

Before joining as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Exeter, I spent three years (2013-2016) as a research fellow at the University of Nottingham. Before this (2009-2013), I completed my PhD at the University of Exeter, under the supervision of Dr Steve Michell on the 4th floor of Geoffrey Pope, which is now where I work. I have an MRes degree from Imperial College London (2005-2006), where I gained lots of molecular biological experience. I have also had some industrial lab experience, working for a sequencing facility at GlaxoSmithKline, in Harlow (2007-2009). I gained my BSc (hons) degree at the University West of England, Bristol in 2005.

Broad research specialisms:

I have a broad interest in pathogenic bacteria. I have spent seven years working with a well-known hospital acquired bacteria called Clostridium difficile and now work on a project with the opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Research

Research interests

I have a strong molecular microbiological background and also some experience with bioinformatics. I am interested in understanding the mechanisms by which pathogenic bacteria adapt and cause disease in the host environment.

Research projects

I am a post-doctoral researcher working with Dr Steven Porter. My current project involves looking at the interaction of kinases in specific two component signal transduction systems of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
