Overview

I’m a researcher from National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), Japan.
I worked as a medical doctor in internal medicine and infectious diseases for 6 years, especially focusing on infectious diseases in immunocompromised hosts. After that, I did my Ph.D. research in fungal infections at NIID / Tohoku University. After finishing Ph.D., I worked as a researcher of Department of Fungal Infection, NIID, mainly focusing on Candida species.

Now I'm a Group Leader of Laboratory of Medical Mycology, NIID, focusing on Candida species infections (Main research theme: Disseminated candidiasis, Vulvovaginal candidiasis, and gastrointestinal colonization).

I am currently a member of Dr. Peter C. Cook's team, where I am researching ”the impact of secreting factors in the lungs on the pathogenesis of Aspergillus fumigatus-induced bronchial asthma".

My research interest is in all aspects of fungal infections, with the goal of improving patient outcomes by elucidating the pathogenesis of fungal infections in humans, developing new early diagnosis methods and novel therapies.
