Overview

I am interested in the neuronal mechanisms by which animals change their behavior in response to external stimuli. In particular, I focus on the ciliomotor nervous system of marine invertebrates.

Research interests

Organisms change their behavior in response to a multitude of external stimuli. Different stimuli impinging on different senses are often integrated in non-linear ways by excitable single cells or the nervous system of animals. The mechanisms and diversity of such multisensory integration are incompletely understood. I propose to study multisensory integration and neuronal circuitry in ciliated larvae of marine invertebrates.
