Overview

I have a biological sciences background, most of my modules focused on plant sciences, developmental genetics and neurobiology.

Research Specialisms:

  • Dissertation project: ‘Overexpression of cassava scopolin-beta-glucosidase in Arabidopsis thaliana for functional genomic studies’
  • Placement year project: ‘In vitro study of the CRL4-DCAF1 activity inhibitor MLN4924 in combination with MEK inhibitors for the treatment of Neurofibromatosis type 2 and other merlin-deficient tumours’

My interests outside of work are running, hiking, baking and volunteering for various ecological and practical nature conservation organisations, including Plymouth Environmental Action.

My role in the department in general will be to provide molecular biology assistance to Prof. Gero Steinberg’s team. I will provide technical support for research projects in applied fungal biology, generate fungicide data in a series of plate and liquid growth assays, provide quantitative fungal growth data, generate vectors for molecular cloning, carry out live cell imaging and plant disease tests, and support all aspects of cloning and fungal microbiology work.
