Research interests

My main area of research is in the comparative genomics of fungi (mainly phytopathogens). To aid in this research I have developed a number of resources, including an EST database (cogeme.ex.ac.uk/) and phylogenetic pipeline. I have contributed analysis and annotation to a number of genome projects. My main area of focus now is the use of next-generation sequencing technology for comparative genomics, analysis of mutants and transcriptomics in the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae and other phytopathogenic fungi.

Research projects

1: Gene expression profiling during appressorium development in the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae.

2: Comparative genomics of Magnaporthe oryzae.

3: Analysis of fungal mutants using next-generation sequencing
