Research interests
My current research is focused on understanding the development of drug resistance in microbes, and finding optimal drug-deploynment strategies to cope with it. To this aim, I use mathematical/computational methods like dynamical systems modeling and control theory; I also work on the bioinformatic part of the projects I am involved, that is mostly about DNA sequence data analysis.
In my PhD, I was working on machine learning for metagenomics. My reseach was focused on similarity-base binning methods, genomic signatures, and some case studies on metagenomic data analysis.
In my Master thesis (Mathematics), I worked on constrained optimization theory and image space analysis.
Research networks
My current PI is Robert Beardmore.
In my PhD at Radboud University Nijmegen, my supervisor was Elena Marchiori (ICIS); my co-promoters were Mike Jetten (Microbiology Department) and Tom Heskes (ICIS).
I have also collaborated with Dimitrios Mavroeidis (IBM Research), Huub Op den Camp (Radboud University Nijmegen), Boran Kartal (University of Gent) and Sacha van Hijum (Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre)
