Overview
After completing my undergraduate degree I went to work in fashion, whilst volunteering with the Institute of Environmental Sciences part-time. After a year, I came back to Exeter as a research technician until I began my PhD in 2010. Spare time is spent dog walking, cooking and being a part- time Fitness Instructor!
Broad research specialisms:
Thus far my work has focused on physiology of the alga, Botryococcus braunii, using microscopy and a handful of assays as well as molecular techniques such as RNA purification, cDNA synthesis and PCR. Currently I am working on a circadian transcriptome experiment using Illumina sequencing. I have also completed a protracted period of bioinformatic analysis of clock genes in B. braunii.
