NagK shows coordinated conformational changes after substrate binding
The bacterial N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) kinase NagK is a classical two-domain carbohydrate kinase (large domain in white, small domain in green).
On binding of substrate GlcNAc (left, upper) the domains close around it (small domain pink); when the second substrate ATP (left, lower) binds, a second conformational change (small domain orange) completes the active conformation.
