Overview

My research focuses on the ecology and evolution of bacteria and their viruses (phages). I use experimental biology and genomics to understand the mechanisms that allow bacteria to resist phage infection.

I am a Marie-Sklowdowska Curie Research Fellow currently on secondment at the University of Otago, New Zealand. At Exeter I work in the research group of Prof. Edze Westra studying the ecology and evolution of CRISPR in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. At Otago I work with Prof. Peter Fineran, focusing on the abortive infection mechanisms.

During my PhD with Assoc. Prof. Britt Koskella I studied the role of the in vivo plant environment on the evolution of phage resistance in the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae.
