Overview

It is with great sadness that we announce that our much respected Technical Services colleague, Spencer Churchyard, passed away on the 14th November 2023 after a short period of illness. Spencer joined the university in 2016 and over the last 7 years has worked in Technical Services alongside colleagues from both Biosciences and the LSI. Based in the Scientific Stores, Spencer was vital to Technical Services provision, and many colleagues will have interacted with him throughout their time here. The University is working closely and sensitively with Spencer’s family to enable us to pay respects.

We recognise this news may be shocking to many, and we would like to remind colleagues of the range of support available from the university including Spectrum Life, the Colleague Grief and Bereavement Group, and the Chaplaincy.

The Scientific Stores is continuing to run as normal, however, we ask that colleagues remain patient and respectful of the team who worked alongside Spencer.
