Research projects
You will carry out your independent supervised research project(s) in one of our world-leading research laboratories. Research projects are individual and can be based on laboratory work, fieldwork or in silico (e.g. bioinformatics).
The research project will give you first-hand experience in many aspects of research work including data generation, analysis, and interpretation as well as science communication in written, poster and oral presentations.
During your research project, you will be supported by your research supervisor and other members of the research group to ensure you produce your best work.
Pastoral tutoring
Supporting you on your personal journey
Our PGT students are well supported whilst studying with us in Biosciences. Each student is assigned to an academic personal tutor who will get to know their tutees, understand their learning style and support them in key skills.
Each personal tutor ensures that students have a supportive peer group as well as academic guidance.
Our tutorial system involves regular meetings throughout the academic year, guiding module choices, providing academic key skills, careers advice and pastoral support.
When additional support is needed, for students who may be experiencing issues that affect their ability to study, we work closely with University services in Welfare, Accessibility and Student’s Guild to offer holistic support packages, ensuring students can continue their studies.
